Bryant Park had humble beginnings as a simple potter’s field and a reservoir. Now it’s lovingly nicknamed Manhattan’s Town Square as a gathering place for all New Yorkers and visitors to meet friends, enjoy the lush greenery and find some refuge in the hustle and bustle of the city.
Each summer, the park is home to free movies, musical performances and yoga classes. Come wintertime, the park is transformed into a winter village complete with an ice skating rink and a holiday shopping market.
Bryant Park Tours are held every other Wednesday throughout the year (weather permitting). Each tour is approximately 45 minutes and departs promptly at 11:00 a.m. Meet at the Josephine Shaw Lowell Memorial Fountain near 41st Street and Sixth Avenue.
